Sep 01, 2025 Staying Safe in the Summer – Heat & Water Safety Campaign
Through the spring into summer, as temperatures rose, so did the number of people enjoying the outdoors in the heat, in community pools, local lakes, and beyond. To help keep residents aware, The Kairos Impact Foundation launched a Summer Safety Campaign including water safety and heat safety education.
With higher-than-average temperatures and more people seeking to cool down in water, raising awareness about heat-related illness and water safety is important especially for children, seniors, and those spending extended time outdoors. Heat-related emergencies can happen quickly and with little warning. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 700 people die each year in the U.S. from extreme heat [CDC, 2023]. Dehydration, heat stroke, and heat exhaustion are preventable with simple precautions.
Through this campaign, the Foundation worked with property management teams to host fun and educational pool parties and post information about safe practices around water, including emphasizing community pool rules, and signs of heat exhaustion.
